Silver Law Group is investigating former Illinois-based Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc. broker Robert Perta (CRD# 536528) after a customer filed a claim alleging over $4.2 million in damages.

The complaint, filed in the Federal Court in December 2017, alleges that Perta was involved with a scheme to misappropriate investor money by FINRA-barred broker Daniel Glick (CRD# 2175655).  Glick, also formerly employed by Transamerica Financial Advisors, allegedly solicited money from investors into his businesses so he could steal money from his customers. Glick allegedly stole the money and covered it up by lying to his customers and, in some cases, manufacturing false account statements. Across all plaintiffs, the complaint alleges approximately $6.5 million in damages.

In January 2018, the SEC reported that Glick pled guilty to one count of wire fraud in the criminal case against him. According to the plea agreement, from at least 2011 through at least 2017, Glick engaged in a fraudulent scheme to benefit himself by defrauding his clients.

Glenn Moffitt Barred By FINRA For Alleged Elder Fraud on silverlaw.comThe SEC announced an emergency asset freeze and temporary restraining order against a Chicago-based investment adviser and his financial management company accused of scamming elderly investors out of millions of dollars.

In the SEC’s complaint, the SEC alleges that Daniel H. Glick (CRD# 2175655) and his unregistered investment advisory firm Financial Management Strategies (“FMS”) took advantage of seniors who entrusted him with millions of dollars’ worth of their retirement savings.

According to the SEC complaint, Glick and his companies raised over $6 million from elderly investors, with most of the money coming from two families.  Glick first raised money though Glick & Associates until dissolution in 2014, then through Glick Accounting Services and FMS.

Silver Law Group is investigating former Michigan-based Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc. (CRD# 16164) broker Harry C. Bennett (CRD# 2395555) after FINRA permanently barred the broker in connection with an investigation alleging excessive commissions and unsuitability.

According to Bennett’s FINRA BrokerCheck report, FINRA permanently barred Bennett from selling securities to the public in November 2016.  FINRA barred Bennett when, according to his BrokerCheck report, Bennett failed to appear for on-the-record testimony requested by FINRA in connection with an investigation involving allegations that he may have engaged in sales practice violations by charging excessive commissions and recommending unsuitable transactions to his customers.

FINRA’s findings state that Bennett’s refusal to appear for the on-record testimony prevented FINRA from reaching a determination as to whether the alleged unsuitable recommendations and excessive commission charges violations occurred.
