Florida stockbroker suspended from securities activity for 6 months due to misconduct

Walter P. Priebe, from Pompano Beach, FL, is accused of engaging in outside business activities without telling his registered firm, Investacorp. Priebe worked for Investacorp between March 1989 and July 2014, when his position in that company was terminated.

The FINRA report alleges that Priebe served as a primary or successor trustee for numerous trusts that were associated with his firm (and was paid for this role). He did not, however, disclose this outside business role and on several occasions, indicated that he had fully disclosed all outside business associations.

The company’s Chief Compliance Officer and President may be implicated in the case

Scottsdale Capital Advisors, an Arizona brokerage firm established in 2001, is pending disciplinary action by FINRA after allegations of inappropriate business conduct by a client, the firm’s compliance officer and the then-president of the firm.

In May, FINRA filed a complaint against the firm as well as individuals John Hurry, Timothy DiBlasi and Mike Cruz in regards to allegations that these individuals and the firm violated FINRA rules by being involved in the sale of more than 74 million unregistered shares of three separate stocks, resulting in proceeds of more than $1.7 million for the customer and $170,000 in commissions for the firm, according to FINRA.

Kim is permanently barred by FINRA

FINRA Rule 2010 provides that “[a] member, in the conduct of his business, shall observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade,” and broker Peter Kim was found in violation of it, according to a recent FINRA disciplinary action.

In fact, according to the report, Kim’s acts, practices and conduct constituted such violation of the rule that FINRA permanently barred Kim from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with firms that sell securities to the public.
