While we may think that those who prey upon the elderly are professional criminals scheming ways to take advantage of people, the sad truth is that often, it\u2019s a family member doing the scheming. A recent study by Merrill Lynch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myajc.com\/business\/most-elder-fraud-all-the-family\/22P0Y2wsVbB6Y8YxY55Y5H\/\"  rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">estimated<\/span><\/a> that 70 percent of all elder financial fraud cases involved relatives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Of course, most family members actively protect their loved ones, but anyone caring for the elderly needs to be aware of the possibilities.
